Appstem's Favorite Social Networking App Plate

We’re very excited to be working on the first version of Plate’s debut social app. This is a partnership built on their bold design and our technical expertise, the result of which has sustained a perfect score on iTunes since its mid-August launch. Appstem is handling all future development and support, and we couldn’t be happier to be along for the ride.

Plate is a fully-featured social network that allows users to post photos, videos, and text to a shared news feed. We’ve also added photo and video commenting, a unique feature that allows for livelier, more dynamic conversations. What really sets Plate apart, though, is that all posts are erased every 24 hours; every day starts with a clean slate. Their tagline puts it best: “today’s moments, gone tomorrow. With Plate, feel free to share any thoughts, photos, and videos, because in 24 hours, it all disappears. Forever.”

But rest assured, our customizable privacy settings will keep your content out of the wrong hands. Alternatively, anything posted to Plate can be exported to Twitter or Facebook should it require a wider audience. And if you’re looking to spread the word, use Plate to invite your Facebook contacts.

Plate uses Parse, a backend-as-a-service solution, for storing data in the cloud. This is a great alternative to building a custom CMS. All of the app’s daily content–photos, videos, and text–is stored on their servers. This offers a huge advantage, as their robust, time-tested infrastructure allows us to focus on iteration.
