Bugs: Kill ‘em All With Appstem Complete QA
I hate bugs. It wasn’t always so. I grew up with Nintendo cartridges that required me to blow into them, using the very air from my own lungs, in order to work properly. Consumers at the time considered this to be perfectly acceptable. We would fight through bugs and glitches, no matter how long it took, to rescue the princess, even though she was always in another castle. Bugs were just something you put up with.
Those Days Are Long Gone
Today, poorly-ported apps are crashing on the just released iOS 8 78 percent more frequently on iOS 7. Somewhere along the way, we demanded a new standard for our consumer electronics, our wireless internet, our cable service, our mobile apps – pretty much for everything. Today, we demand perfection. Anything less, and we tweet about it using sad-faced emoticons.
For example, I love to play chess online with my buddies, and there is no shortage of chess apps for your phone. I won’t name this bug-ridden app that would crash just about every time I was about to Knight-to-B4 my opponent into submission. Suffice to say, my chess buddies experienced the same crashes, as well as a funky user interface that may have been invented even before chess was.
What did we do with this buggy, frustrating app? We deleted it, downloaded another, and moved on, even though the user base and community was much larger on the buggy app. It’s that easy for the customer to simply pack up and say goodbye.
If you’re developing your own app now, you understand just how important a clean, polished, bug-free app is for your business. The last thing you want is a clunky app that your users delete as soon as they download it, leaving a one-star review and tarnishing your brand as well.
Enter Appstem Complete QA
We’ve been developing apps for what seems like an eternity now, and we’ve learned quite a bit along the way. Since the very beginning, our clients have been asking us if we offer any QA and testing services. That they had apps developed internally or with third parties that needed some extensive troubleshooting to get to the app to the finish line.
We already had all the tools and test devices in house, had already established our own rigorous testing and QA best practices for the apps we were creating in-house at Appstem. Talk about a no-brainer. And so, Appstem Complete QA was born.
If you’re developing an app internally or with a third party, and you want to ensure it hits the market bug-free on launch day, drop us a line. We’ll optimize speed, functionality, usability, and reliability so you don’t have to. Because the last person you want finding your bugs is the user.
