Mobile Predictions From CES 2015
Ah, CES, the old Consumer Electronics Show. Taking over Las Vegas every January, the once venerable trade show has fallen on hard times as of late. Microsoft pulled out a few years back, and Apple handles its own press conferences these days. Still, there’s always something exciting coming out of CES. Here’s what we expect in the mobile space.
Smart Watches
Duh. Be on the look out for about a million smaller companies to debut their Android smart watches. Smart Watches are the new tablets — everyone’s got one. But which one will you actually buy? The victor of the CES smart watch battle will be high on the list, right behind Apple’s upcoming offerings.
Internet of Things Takes Over The World
The Internet of Things is going strong, and be prepared for a whole new slew of wearable tech to emerge. Look for upgrades to all sorts of fitness trackers (as they merge with smart watches). After that, who knows? Shoes with built in pedometers, fully connected refrigerators, home-thermostats, hot water heaters, and garage door openers. SkyNet is nearly active, people.
Wireless Electricity
This is no joke people. Boston-based tech company WiTricity specializes in magnetic resonance technology to power your electronic devices without a power cord at all. According to Engadget, a future model of Toyota Prius will utilize the tech and charge wirelessly, in addition to a new generation of Intel laptops and medical devices. We’re not sure if we should be frightened or not, but we are most definitely interested.
Finally, Someone Will Announce A New Smart Phone
Our safest prediction. Bet on it!
