San Diego County Bar Association Releases iOS & Android Apps
After a frustrating experience using a do-it-yourself mobile app creator, The San Diego County Bar Association—or, the SDCBA—reached out to Appstem to create custom iOS and Android apps. We are excited to be their new go-to mobile partner!
The SDCBA initially wanted to create a mobile app for their client base, one that needed to include the following features: a news and articles section, a lawyer directory, an event calendar, a lawyer referral tool, and a “My SDCBA” account system. These needs were reasonable, but the conditions under which the app was initially created were highly restrictive. Their work was locked into one vendor with high monthly fees, horrible customer service, and a very rigid template. Iterating was a headache, and support was poor. This kind of experience is not uncommon; substandard drag-and-drop mobile app makers are the norm.
In order to help the SDCBA, Appstem developed custom iOS and Android apps using SenchaTouch–a leading cross platform framework–and PhoneGap, which is great for sustaining feature parity across iOS and Android. We’ve even managed to keep their work intact during the porting process–that is, all original design assets and features have remained unchanged as requested. Appstem’s responsibilities lie in long-term maintenance and support: we’re handling all future development, testing, and submission processes.
